Each month, our Monthly Companion sends out an exclusive design for $9.99 that has never been printed anywhere else. We could not be more thankful for the artists that take part in this because it allows us to include our entire community in something truly special that they cannot get anywhere else. We also enter every subscriber into a contest to become the Companion of the Month, where they receive a package with a value over $250.

This month’s Legend comes from an artist that we feature often, Karen Hallion. You can read our interview with her below.

1. Who are you and where are you from?
Karen Hallion, Swampscott, Massachusetts.

2. What got you into designing T-Shirts?
I had been doing freelance artwork for some time, and then someone mentioned that I should check out TeeFury and consider subbing some work there. It took me a number of submissions before my first design was accepted, which I will never forget how excited I was when I finally got that email!

3. Where did your artist name come from?
My parents! I just stuck with the obvious I guess ?

4. Where do you get inspiration for your artwork?
I am heavily influenced by Disney, of course, and I love Art Nouveau. My favorite artists are Glen Keane and James Baxter from Disney, Alphonse Mucha, Charles Dana Gibson, and Audrey Kawasaki. I take a lot of my inspiration from the things I most love: books, movies, pop culture, science fiction, and anything featuring strong female characters.

5. Who’s your favorite Doctor?
Ten edges over the rest for me, just ever so slightly. I just love him.

6. If you had the Tardis for 24-Hours, what would you do with it and where would you go?
Hmmm! I would go anywhere that has Mermaids, or maybe opening day of Disneyland to meet Walt or perhaps to Moulin Rouge in the late1800s.
